今日は大好きなLANVINのデザイナーの
アルベール・エルバス氏の名言を紹介します。
イヴサンローランのデザイナーをクビになった後、
ファッションが嫌になったときのことをエルバスはこう回想します。
"I just couldn't see the point in fashion anymore, but I remember watching something on television and a woman had lost her husband through a terrorist attack. I thought 'it doesn't matter what that woman is wearing', but then I realised actually it's our job as designers to make women smile; to bring them the chocolate without the calories."
ファッションに魅力を感じなくなったんだ。でもあるときテレビで、テロで夫を亡くした女性を見たんだ。それを見たとき、その女性が着ている服なんて何一つ重要じゃないと思ったんだ。ただ同時に、デザイナーとして私の仕事は、彼女に笑顔を届けること、カロリーのないチョコレートを届けることだと気付いたんだ。

自然と出てくるところが、さすがエルバスです。
